Keyshia Cole (born October 15, 1981)1 is an American recording artist and producer. Cole cites singers Mary J. Blige and Brandy as her biggest influences and inspirations.2
She released her platinum selling debut album The Way It Is in June 2005, and her sophomore platinum album Just Like You in September 2007. Cole's third studio album, A Different Me was released on December 16, 2008. The lead single "Playa Cardz Right" features rapper 2Pac and was officially released on October 8, 2008.
The third season of her BET reality series Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is premiered on Tuesday, November 12, 2008,and the season finale was aired December 30, 2008.

Career
Cole has worked on numerous projects over the years. She has been on soundtracks for productions such as Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Step Up, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, and others. She also released her debut platinum album on A&M Records titled The Way It Is, featuring artists Kanye West, Jadakiss, Chink Santana, Metro City and Eve.
2004–2005: The Way It Is
In 2004, she attracted the attention of A&M Records executive Ron Fair3 On November 9, 2004, Keyshia released her first single, "I Changed My Mind" featuring Kanye West followed by "(I Just Want It) To Be Over", "I Should Have Cheated", and "Love". The Way It Is was released in June 2005. It debuted at number six on the Billboard 200, selling 89,000 copies in the first week of release.4
2006-2007: Just like You
Her sophomore album, Just like You, was released in September 2007. It features the singles "Last Night" featuring Diddy, "Let It Go" featuring Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim, "I Remember", "Shoulda Let You Go", and "Heaven Sent". Other guest artists include Too Short, Amina, Anthony Hamilton, Young Dro, and T.I.Shyian.
'Just Like You' debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 300,000 copies in its first week. The album was nominated for four Grammys, Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2008 Grammy Awards, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Cole released the first single from her sophomore album titled "Let It Go" released on July 19, 2007, her second single "Shoulda Let You Go" in October, her third single "I Remember" on December 5, 2007, and her fourth single "Heaven Sent" on March 7, 2008. "Heaven Sent" was #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for nine weeks. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song peaked at #28.
Cole graced the Fall 2007 covers of Sister 2 Sister, Essence, VIBE, Jet, and Dub magazines.

2008–present: A Different Me
In 2008 Cole made guest appearances on songs such as "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" with hip/hop band C-Side on the album Class In Session, and "I Got a Thang for You" with rapper Trina on the album Still Da Baddest. She also made a guest appearance on "She Got Her Own", in the music video of singer's Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx and in the song "Game's Pain" by Compton-based rapper The Game. In 2009, she also make a guest appearance on Keri Hilson's "Get Your Money Up" from her debut album In a Perfect World....
Cole is also featured on the 2008 charity song "Just Stand Up" which raises money for cancer research along with various pop, hip-hop, and R&B artists this year. Cole has also been on tour with Keri Hilson, Lil' Wayne, and T-Pain from December to February. She will be back on tour with Keri, and Bobby Valentino in May of 2009. Later on in 2009 it is a possibility that Cole will be back on tour with Rihanna and possibly Ciara.
She released her third studio album, A Different Me, in December 2008. It debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 322,000 copies in its first week.5
Cole was on the cover of the March 2009 issue of Vibe, and is currently on the Summer 2009 final double-cover issue of King. She recently released her third single "Trust", a duet with Monica. Keyshia and Yvonne Cole appears on the June issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine. In March 2009, Cole began dating Daniel Gibson of the Cleveland Cavaliers.6
Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is
In conjunction with her album release, BET began airing the second season of Cole's reality show Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is on October 30, 2007. The show premiered to record breaking ratings for BET. It is the top returning series premiere in BET history, as well as the number one original series premiere of the year. A reported 2.9 million viewers and 2.0 million households watched the season 2 finale. It is now the #1 series telecast in BET history.7 She reported on BET's 106 & Park that Season 3 has been filmed since in summer 2008. It premiered on November 11, 2008. This season is full of Cole's action-packed summer and early fall updates on her family. The season 3 finale was aired on December 30, 2008. Season 3 will be in stores on DVD soon. Keyshia has concluded that there will not be a fourth season. There is going to be a show called Neffe & Frankie which premieres Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 10/9c on BET.
