Biography
Early years
Watson is the youngest daughter of a Barbara and Allen Watson, who were farmers in the small town of Oakwood, Illinois, until 1985. Her family then moved to Cape Coral, Florida, where her parents entered her into beauty pageants, where she won 60 crowns and 200 trophies. She also won Model of the Year though the Face Finders Model Search in Dallas, Texas in 1988.
Acting
Like many others, Watson then moved on to local theatre and commercials. Her success in these areas enabled her family to be able to use some of her earnings to move to Los Angeles. She was first cast in a recurring role on Davis Rules. She then went on to her best known role as ditzy wanna-be valley girl Karen Foster on Step by Step. Karen, like Watson, was an aspiring model. Watson has not had much success in landing roles after Step by Step ended its seven-year run in 1998.
Child Actors Supporting Themselves (CAST)
In 2000 Watson started Child Actors Supporting Themselves (CAST), an organization to help child actors and athletes handle their finances. She was motivated to do this after discovering that her parents spent all of her earnings from her years on Step by Step.
